Keyword Research (Phase 1)
Goal: collect keyword evidence from whatever SEO tool you use, score it, and record a human decision about what to write.
Data fields
SCS uses the same columns regardless of the source tool. Fill what your export provides; blank means unknown, never zero.
| Field | Meaning | Typical source | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
sv | Monthly search volume | SpyFu, WriterZen, GKP, Ads | Demand |
kd | Keyword difficulty 0–100 | Any keyword tool | Effort |
intent | Informational, commercial, transactional, navigational | Tool + manual SERP check | Content format |
b_cpc | Broad cost per click | Any keyword tool | Commercial value |
tm_clicks | Total monthly clicks | Any keyword tool | Traffic ceiling |
organic_c | Organic click share % | Any keyword tool | Realistic ceiling |
device_m / device_d | Mobile / desktop split | Any keyword tool | Format and length |
serp_features | PAA, snippet, images, video | Tool + manual SERP | Page structure |
| Related keywords | Cluster expansion | Tool export | Cluster plan |
| Questions | FAQ ideas | PAA / tool | FAQ section |
| Competitors | Top SERP rivals | Tool / manual review | Benchmark |
SCS also records provenance so a number is never mistaken for a fact:
sourceanddate_added— where the row came from;source_confidence—low,medium, orhigh;intent_source,intent_checked,intent_confidence— how intent was decided;serp_checked,serp_check_date,serp_content_types,serp_fit— what the live SERP actually looked like.
Import
scs import-csv --site fundamentalstock --workspace bs --source Writerzen export.csv
scs score --workspace bs
Accepted --source values: SpyFu, GKP, Writerzen, NeuronWriter,
Manual, AI, Other. Import dedupes by keyword and allocates PIDs.
GOS scoring
The Golden Opportunity Score is a triage metric:
n_sv = sv / max(sv for the site across all workspaces) * 100
n_kd = kd # KD is already 0–100
gos = (n_sv * (100 - n_kd)) / 100
gos_tier = P1 / P2 / P3 / P4
| Tier | GOS | Triage meaning |
|---|---|---|
P1 | 70+ | High triage signal |
P2 | 50–69 | Worth reviewing |
P3 | 30–49 | Possible cluster or supporting candidate |
P4 | below 30 | Low triage signal |
gos_tier is not a priority verdict. A low-GOS keyword can be go for cluster
coverage or business value; a high-GOS keyword can be no for competition,
knowledge, experience, or E-E-A-T reasons. The human decision field is the
selection gate. See Decision Model.
Default triage band
As a working default, review keywords with GOS ≥ 30, intent ≠ navigational, and SV ≥ 100. These are triage defaults, not hard filters: the operator can override them for a cluster gap or a strategic page.
From research to decision
- Import and score the export.
- Research the strongest candidates in
research/<pid>/. - Check the live SERP; do not trust a tool's intent label alone.
- Record
decision,decision_reason,decision_factors,decided_by, anddecided_oninkeywords.csv. - Only
decision=gocan move toSelectedand thenBriefed.
